The House and Senate hold budget hearings this week. The Senate returns to session on March 5. The House returns to session on March 12.
March 1—The House Judiciary Committee holds a hearing on House Bill 1815 (Cutler-R-Lancaster) providing for the merit selection of justices for Superior and Commonwealth Courts, House Bill 1816 (Cutler-R-Lancaster) establishing the Appellate Court Nominating Commission. at the National Constitution Center, Philadelphia.
March 13—The Senate Judiciary Committee holds a hearing on possible changes to the Wiretapping and Electronic Surveillance Control Act in Harrisburg.
March 30—Senate Judiciary Committee holds a hearing onn Senate Bill 1153 (Greenleaf-R-Montgomery) further providing for post-trial matters and jurisdiction and proceedings relating to miscarriages of justice at the Philadelphia Bar Association, 1101 Market St., Philadelphia.
The Free Student Research Center is now OPEN. It will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 9AM to 3PM. The Free Student Research Center is available for use by attorneys who are current members of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Criminal Justice Section and who are court-appointed to the case for which they seek research (either state or CJA!).
