The Governor has vetoes the budget bill passed by the General Assembly.   The General Assembly is subject to recall as the Governor and legislative leaders will be negotiating a budget resolution.

Child Protection: House Bill 1276 (Watson-R-Bucks) further changes to child protection laws.  A House Fiscal Note and summary are available.  This bill addresses the status of parent volunteers.   The Governor signed the bill into law as Act 15.

Bills moving

Corrections/Parole Consolidation: Senate Bill 859 (Greenleaf-R-Montgomery) consolidating the Dept. of Corrections and Probation and Parole was reported out of the Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee and is now on the Senate Calendar for action.

Judicial Retirement: House Bill 89 (Harper-R- Montgomery) constitutional amendment raising the retirement age for judges from 70 to 75 (House Fiscal Note) and House Bill 90 (Harper-R- Montgomery) raising the retirement age for judges from 70 to 75 (House Fiscal Note) were referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Contraband: Senate Bill 533 (Eichelberger-R-Blair) relating to the disposition of abandoned contraband by Probation and Parole (sponsor summary) was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Safe Campuses: Senate Bill 202 (Schwank-D-Berks) establishing the Safe Campuses Act (sponsor summary) was Tabled in the Senate.
